For telling Frazer, the boy of random noises that never, ever stop, that he should practice scat singing at home this week Shocked Rolling Eyes

And for introducing your *marvelous* plan to get punctuality and attendance rates up. Oh yes, get your child in enough and their class might win a trophy that means they can come to school 45 early next week for breakfast and games club! rofl

How exactly did they work this out? People that are struggling to get there on time are hardly going to want to get there even earlier are they? And what about families with children in more than one class? Do we all go in early and some of us miss breakfast and sit around outside?

So of course, Frazer's class won the cup this week. Cynical me thinks that they are trialling the idea on the year 6 children as they stand more of a chance of taking it up, considering most can travel to school alone. Apparently Frazer didn't look too pleased, probably because he knows my feelings on it Very Happy
Ah well, if he wants to drag himself out of bed early without my assistance and take himself to school alone (never done that before) just to play xbox (which we have at home), then who am I to stop him? Very Happy

I frikking hate initiatives like that too- all it does is make the kids who are perpetually late feel awful when their classmates nag them, most kids who are constantly late don't have control/power over what time they get there so rewarding/punishing the children for it always seems so wrong to me.

Oh yes, I hate it for all those reasons too Beka, I'm just being entirely selfish in my new reasons to hate it Very Happy

But honestly, if you're struggling to get in on time and each day, then how on earth is getting up 45 minutes earlier than usual going to be an incentive?!

Erm no I wouldn't like it either as I'd have the same problem as you. We have attendance treats too and I'm not keen on them, even though my kids usually get to go to them. Barney missed out last term because he was ill so much his attendance was 94.5%, but the others have 100% so it's not like I couldn't be bothered. At least their treats are during normal school hours.

I understand they want to improve attendance, but ateod those with parents who cba are still going to have parents who cba, and those who are genuinely ill miss out through bad luck.

Attendance rewards drive me mad for all the reasons listed so far (fortunately we don't have them) but yours is just ridiculous Elaine! Laughing

It gets worse.

This breakfast club doesn't actually provide breakfast.

They try making school so much fun that the children all want to be there when it starts each day?

No? Razz
