Are we really all that tied up with the frantic end of academic year stuff?

It's oh so quiet here.

What are you all up to?

Today I had the end of my puppet workshop i've attended with Loks, learnt how to make playdough without a cooker or microwave- just a kettle, so much easier than the other ones I've done in the past.

J had such a good day at school he even walked home in full drag make up (he's playing an ugly sister) and was really happy.

DD1 has gone to a sleepover at her friends house (first one her friend has had in 2 years as her last one her mom made the go to sleep at 9pm and apparently she became laughing stock of her middle school- DD1 and her get on like a house on fire and C has gone with the attitude if they have to sleep at 9pm they can always get up and have fun the next day Very Happy )

I'm currently procrastinating- meant to be starting my glass painting for end of school presents but keep putting it off Embarassed

I haven't been around much today - its been a busy one for me.

School run this morning, Tesco shopping straight after it, wallpapering all day, ate something fast, MW appointment, back home for another bit of wallpapering of a ceiling, school run again, spag bol cooked and eaten, cleaned down kitchen, changed beds, hung a new shower curtain up, wiped bogs down, kids were driving me POTTY so 2 got sent to bed early to watch films and be out of my way and two are just finishing watching Rio down here... after that, i aim to go and have a long soak in the bath.....

Plus side to the busy day - MIL is making us tea on Sunday Very Happy so one less thing for me to think about and I think she has invited us on purpose to stop me doing it all.

I had Barney and Reuben home today. Barney's rash from yesterday spread to both arms and his face. I phoned the doctor who had no appointments, but said they'd phone me back. They said there's loads of rashes going around atm, and it's probably post-viral from the chickenpox, and to give him antihistamines. I did that and the rash faded, so i was very grateful that I hadn't passed on some hideous disease to his class, and Barney is very happy that he can go to a party tomorow!

Reuben was still complaining of headaches, so not quite sure what's going on there, it's been on and off all day.

Went to Hobbycraft to pick up some bits to make teachers presents. They've all got really good school reports, and their teachers have been really lovely this year (not that they weren't before!)

Cubs and Scouts tonight, so dinner was early, but DH was home late.

I'm actually pretty knackered now, but will have to get Jayden as there are some scrotes hanging round the Scout hut shouting abuse. One of them kept shouting "fatty" at me and then shouted "Your kid goes to M**** G**** durrrrr durrrr" (Kyle's special school) That actually made me laugh because the boy shouting it used to go there, so whatever he's implying he's saying about himself! Vicky that's horrible Evil or Very Mad The little scrotes deserve a slap!

Cath, I shall say 'I told you so' when your hips fall apart nonono

Beka, sounds like a good day for you. Thanks for starting the thread, I kept meaning to but was getting nowhere fast.

Today Friday the 13th has been living up to its reputation for me. I kind of want to offload, but I also don't want to bring everyone down. So just know it's a bit sh!t here. No one's died or anything, but it's not a happy house with me in it.

Elaine - they feel okay today which is why I have got some stuff done. And my bath in a bit should make sure they remain okay. Physio has ordered me buckets of heat for it, so to me that means lying in the bath for a few hours...!
And its all stuff which needs doing. Dh was talking about painting the house, so I told him I have done my bit bar a bit of wallpaper in the babys room to patch up the water damaged area and that painting is his responsibility.

Sounds like you are going through a bit of a tough patch Elaine. In need of a hug and a brew with friends huh? Someone else to pace with J?
Being a mum is hard. Being a mum to a few kids and a baby, with another half who works is really hard. yeah, he will be tired after a few shifts, but you are on-call, working your shift 24/7 and he has to realise that. A mum never clocks off.

hugs Elaine

Glad to see people coming out of the woodwork.

Well DD1 is apparently enjoying her sleepover after a dramatic day at school- hand written songs given to her by two different boys Shocked (her bestfriend is finding it hilarious as any good bestfriend would) Laughing

DS1 is now nerding out with DH on LOTRO and DD2 and DS2 have decided to have a sleep over in her room.

hugs hugs hugs Elaine. You know that we're here to pick you up, it's not you bringing anyone down? hugs

Been to fetch a rescue mog today, she's an 11yr old maine coon who was going to be homeless as her owner moved into sheltered accomodation. Was fun bringing her home on the bus, in the rain, with 4 overexcited kids. Confused

Been sorting out hospital appointments otherwise - Kai has finally had his OT appointment through, so form filling for that. Sam has an MRI booked for heart stuff in a fortnight, more form filling. And the week before that one he's to go just up the road to Croydon hospital to see the gastro doc. No forms, but likely a colonoscopy. Poor bloke. Very Happy

Got the tax credits done, and life insurance trust stuff re-sorted. Then had a phone call to say that I've won 6 powerplate sessions at my local gym. So got to fit in getting over there (and booking kids' swimming lessons while I'm at it) sometime Monday/Tuesday.

Kids are in bed, all been sleeping for an hour, about to have a cuppa and watch something gloriously shitty on the box. Very Happy

Awh thanks you guys Smile I was in full-on moan mode last night, so would have ended up boring you with a whole list of how friday the 13th was crap!
We had a nightmare getting to the cranial osteopath; managed to miss three (yes three) buses while waiting for one that's the longest journey ever. It took over two hours to make this journey and we were over an hour late - I'd called ahead and they said they would still fit us in (I was ready to give up and go home!) but Jasper ended up with only 15 minutes of treatment.
Good news is that we're both going to get treatment next week, and I'll be taking a different route!

The rest in brief: arguing with DH, DH looking half dead on the buses (lack of sleep), Jasper screaming *lots*, Robin throwing screaming tantrums (he'd never had any before J was born), Frazer being stroppy attitude boy, near-argument with GP receptionist, pharmacy not having our prescription, lack of food, lack of sleep and being in pain... Confused

Good side: The GP said that Jasper's reflux is "more than textbook" as he ticks all the boxes. Well, that's not a good thing, but knowing I'm right helps, as does the prescription. I didn't even have to ask for something other than gaviscon as the GP instantly prescribed ranitidine and domperidone.
Pharmacist felt really bad about not having our prescription in while making me wait with two screamers, so gave me two goody bags of little freebies (baby weaning pouches, nivea lotion and tetley tea etc)
I was so knackered when I got back from collecting DD from guides that I fell asleep fully dressed while putting R to bed so got a decent amount of sleep - even if the house was left in a dirty messy tip!

I'm still in the middle of moving hell, with tons going wrong. Though hopefully by tonight i'll have a working cooker and washing machine again.

We finally stopped moving stuff at 1am on Wednesday morning after all the dramas, and DP has been working everyday since, so unpacking has been "interesting", as between pain and having to spend time at MIL's for various things, barely a dent has been made...

Thankfully DP is off today and tomorrow, so hoping inroads will be made.

Its been another day of sorting here.
But no heavy duty stuff. I have been going through baby clothes and put them into size order and chucked some tatty stuff away. It is all now bagged up in separate sizes and the aim is to wash one size a week. He has enough sleep wear, tests and tops to last till he is twelve - eighteen months, but no pants apart from newborn, which is fully stocked.
Hate jeans and rough materials on babies, so need to go shopping for soft jersey pants starting at 0-3 months upwards.

As well as that, i went knicker shopping for me as even though my backside hasn't grown much, my underwear has started digging in as i like them to go under the buns.
Bought size 16-18 knickers and because they are big on me, they are bloody comfortable!

Dug out blankets to assess and wash, and drunk tea. Even managed a decent lunch!
