We've had mention elsewhere of bluey tint lipsticks and nail varnish........just wondered what else people remember wearing?

Early 1980's I remember wearing roll-on lip gloss (aged 13) and forever reapplying it as it didn't stay put for long. Oh and it was flavoured so I used to lick it off anyway Laughing

Later on when I got a bit more adventurous with make up I went for purple and pink eyeshadows and bright pinky-blue lipstick from Boots 17. I also had a Mary Quant lipstick which was a really dark red, almost black, I can't for the life of me remember what it was called though.

Late 80's saw the introduction of Heather Shimmer lipstick and matching nail varnish into my make-up bag. I only realised the other day you can still buy the lipstick!

Funnily enough I noticed the other day heather and coffee shimmer were still going!

I remember tinkerbell make up from when I was about 11 ish.

I had roll-on lipglosses in mint, banana and strawberry flavour. They were very sticky, specially when they leaked out of the bottle into my schoolbag.

Black kohl stick eye-liner which smudged to make me look like a panda and violet eyeshadow.

Perfume wise, I think the first perfume I ever owned was a bottle of Charlie, closely followed by Tramp. I sprayed the Tramp around my bedroom to cover up the smell when my cat shat in the corner so of course, forever more related the smell of the perfume with cat poo. Might have been a good thing actually cos I don't think it was a very nice perfume at all.

After the Charlie and Tramp phase I got into perfume oils, Patchouli, Sandalwood and Amber. Then when working at Boots as a Saturday girl I remember the perfume consultant spraying Chloe around the place. I think it smells of plastic.

As an 18th birthday present I got a bottle of Paris. Smells of parma violets. Around the same time there was a craze for Body Shop dewberry which I didn't like much but everyone else in the world seemed to be wearing.

These days I don't own a bottle of perfume at all - just don't like them anymore. Probably due to my early exposure to too many horrid ones.

We used to go and dowse ourselves with free samples from the body shop. Dewberry and White Musk were the most popular. And there was one that smelled a bit like dog poo, but I can't remember the name of it.

I still have White Musk, when I fancy smelling like a teenager!!

The White Musk I have is a recent purchase, not some left over from 20 years ago!!

Did anyone else have one of those colour change lipsticks? Shocked Embarassed

It was terrible - you'd leave the house thinking it beautifully matched your outfit, but you went out into the cold or the heat, and catch yourself in mirror and it had turned a different colour altogether Embarassed

almost as daft as heat reactive clothing - which just used to highlight your sweaty spots rofl

Nobody's mentioned electric blue mascara and eyeliner yet - or was that just me Embarassed rofl

Oh yes, I had electric blue mascara (although I'm not sure I ever went out in it!)

I used to like impulse spray when I was in my early/mid teens (late 80s), especially a bright pink can (can't remember the name). Also, Park Avenue perfume from Avon!

My bf and I used to write to each other every day (with his sister acting as postman!) and the letters always got a good squirt of smelly stuff rofl (His was an M&S aftershave but I can't remember the name of that either)

eww yes i remember dewberry but didn't have any. I think I wore charlie (a red one) then chloe and tresor. Then I was bought eden at 17 by my boyfriend and I've loved that since although I've run out and am wearing green tea or phylosikos diptyque (which is pure summer to me).

Oh, I remember White Musk, Dewberry and fuzzy peach! I also had park avenue (I think, was it black and white?) and was it called lola? from avon, and exclamation, and probably tons of other cheap shitty perfumes lol.

OMG, this is a trip down memory lane isn't it?

Flavoured lip gloss - tick

Black kohl eyeliner - tick

Blue mascara (and matching eyeliner) - tick

Charlie, Tramp, dewberry - tick.

What was the perfume in an all-blue plasticky slightly triangular-ish bottle with a thin brown strip where the lid attached? Was that Lola? Quite a strong and pungent smell iirc.

Amarige was probably the first decent perfume I wore though I went off it quite quickly.

I'm just amazed nobody's mentioned Poison or Opium yet.

I heard a story about someone asking at the perfume counter for Poisson thinking that was how to pronounce Poison in French. Mmm lovely. No idea if it's true though.

I remember the name Aqua Manda but have no idea what it smelled like.

My mate was an Avon lady for a very short while She always had loads of samples on the go. I remember Soft Musk in a brownish bottle, Loulou in a blue bottle and Sportif (I think) in a green and white bottle. They were all pretty foul I think.
