I love this little programme, tucked away on BBC1 afternoon TV. Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley from Harry Potter) plays the bumbling yet shrewd priest soooo well - and the 1950s fashions are to die for!
The children watch it avidly too
Lovely, feelgood TV. have downloaded the books from Amazon too, as I last read them at school (which was - ahem - a few years ago now...)

I read the books at school too. I remember we had to study detective novels, which really didn't appeal to me, and the teacher suggested Father Brown. I haven't been watching them in the afternoon but as Dh likes detective stuff (one of the few TVs genre he will watch willingly) we've been recording them and watching in the evening. (Watched 3 or 4 so far.) _________________ Sarah, SAHM to Ollie (01/2002), Dom (10/2004) and Antonia (11/2008)

I record them too, and we watch them in the evening as well!
(Except for today...I am waiting for the washing machine to finish and am stealing a few moments... )

I wonder if ds1 would like the books. I must only have been 13 ish when I read them so they should be ok for him at 11? Were they cheap? _________________ Sarah, SAHM to Ollie (01/2002), Dom (10/2004) and Antonia (11/2008)

| IIRC, it was something like 77p for the whole collected works! They were free at one point, but I dithered and missed the boat... |
