Strawbery switchblade. OK.

How about the other ones we remember?

For instance- southern death cult, march violets, zodiac mindwarp and the love reaction, the band who did "is that concord"? or something similar....
theater of hate, blood and roses, lol!

Saw them in Manchester, they were fabtabulous. There were loads of other bands that night too, some kind of group tour, but they are the only ones I remember.

Were they Scottish? Or am I thinking of a different group?

Prefab Sprout.

(Just to clarify, they are not the ones I was thinking of when I asked if Orange Juice were Scottish!)

Orange Juice were indeed Scottish, singer and songwriter was Edwyn Collins of "Never met a girl like you before" fame. I don't think of them as obscure.

The The are still on the go, or at least they were a couple of years ago because I bought a new album of theirs - it isn't a patch on Infected.

Anyone here heard of Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians or their former incarnation as the Softboys. Great music with really daft lyrics

My flatmate was into Prefab Sprout but they were a bit to wimpy and whiny for my tastes.

Trying to wrack my brains as to what I listened to in the 80s, Colourbox, Gil Scott Heron and Ben Watt & Tracy Thorne spring to mind, oh and does anyone remember Carmel - I heard her on Radio Scotland today.

Orange Juice maybe aren't the band I was thinking of then. Anyway, which ever one it was, one of the band members was/is the brother of one of my mummy friends. They had one hit that I liked but I can't remember what it was. Too long ago.

I loved Carmel - she had such a beautiful voice.
Anyone remember Dramatis? (Gary Numan's band basically - they had a few obscure hits), The Associates (hardly obscure), Fatal Charm, The Fixx, China Crisis, Leisure Process, The Europeans...hmm that is one corner of my 12 inch collection..will delve more tomorrow!
