OMG ... Starbucks is closed at Hwy 5 and Hwy 12. Plenty of room at the Carls Jr's so we can meet there Sunday.
Fred and I took another ride out to the Delta Loop -- figure about 80 miles from Carls Jr to Courtland. Recommend topping off the gas tank at meeting location. Rio Vista has gas too.
Depending on how long we want to spend "picnicing" the 80 mile loop took approx 2-2 1/2 hrs (without stops).
We can vote on a game plan for "Our Cruise" on Sunday.
Hope to see you there.

Hosted by Fred Lizardo
It was brought up in last months newsletter that a Cruise-in was basically a place to park and show your car "a car show". I somewhat agree. Part of the enjoyment of owning our cars is driving them. Well, this is what I came up with as a "suggestion".
A Sunday, Delta Drive.
We meet at Hwy 12 off I5. Head west on 12 to B&W Resort. Follow Brannon Island Rd north to Hwy 160 towards Rio Vista. Crossing over the Rio Vista Bridge, we could do a short pass through historic Rio Vista. Leaving Rio Vista, head north on Hwy 84 to the 1st of 2 ferry river crossing barge's. The cars (6-8 at a time) can cross the river on the ferry to Ryer Island. Driving along Steamboat Slough to the next ferry crossing to Grand Island. The ferry crossing costs $0.00. Driving south we will reach Hogback Recreation Area. This would be an ideal location to stop for a picnic lunch. The park is right on the water. It has a large green grassy area, large trees and picnic tables. The parking area is paved and large. The cars would be within our view. From Hogback, head south on Hwy 160, following the Sacramento River, crossing the Isleton Bridge. We could cruise the old town of Isleton. From Isleton, head north on 160. The drive is relaxing as we cruise the curves of the Sacramento river on our way to beautiful Walnut Grove. Leaving Walnut Grove takes us to the Historic town of Locke .. the club can drive down the main drag; more like a small alley way. =) The trip could end there, or continue to Courtland and Freeport. There are many photo opportunities along the way.
Meeting spot will be at the Starbucks @ Hwy 5 and Hwy 12 @ 9am
Bring a cold lunch and a $5 for one of the ferries and a few fold out chairs... |
