Hey, did anyone else see this story on KCRA 3 news? This lady LOVED her 1992 Camaro and it was stolen so she posted a YouTube video hoping to find it. It was found but stripped and her insurance money won't cover all the repairs. It was her only transportation for herself, her daughter, and her disabled son.

Anyone have any ideas how we might be able to help?

I feel for the car. And what kind of person would put that sticker on the quarter panel! Must have been put there by the crooks.

But this is something everyone should know, Don't ever think for a moment "thats what insurance is for". You usually find out when you need them that they are not there.

I pretty much know what this young lady is going through. A while back my 91 Camaro was destroyed in a hit and run. $8000+ damages. Got barely anything from insurance. They did not even consider all the performance parts or anything else I had installed. And I'm disabled, have not been able to go to work since my heart failure, don't collect diability, my car was mu sole transportation to my doctors appoinments. I just don't know what its like to have my story on the news or have people help me. I had to do it on my own.

This is a sad story, and a harsh reminder why, if you have a significant investment in your car, you should consider some sort of classic insurance. Most insurances will only cover a ranged bluebook value as replacement, which means you probably won't get your investment back even though it's true market value may be higher.
I would recommend, especially for older Classics, getting an appraisal done by a quallified appraiser, just to make sure your insurance company doesn't try to screw you, should tragedy strike. You can usually have it done for about a hundred bucks, sometimes more depending on the appraiser, but in my opinion it is well worth the investment. An appraisal is almost always held up in court, should you have to go there... Peace of mind, after spending all that money to build your car, is what you want, eh? Smile

well there was a bunch of talk on the facebook page about this because if we knew about it I think the word would have gotten out sooner! I the only sad thing I know with our club resources we could do like a restore rescue kind of overhaulin kind of thing. But it is out of our reach in the term of funds and time and those willing to commit to something like that at the last min....
