The plan for the March Green Lane Event is to return to my favourite lanes in Hampshire, many of which we did in mid summer for the Nellies Dell weekend event, as you know there are several splendidly "technical"
lanes in Hampshire and I hope to cover all of these plus a couple of new lanes too! These lanes can be damaging if they are not treated with the proper care and attention, but as we have proved many times before they can also be done with no damage at all even by standard vehicles if the correct speed and direction are properly used.
Meeting point and time will be announced in a later post.
Anyone interested please post on this thread or e-mail me to let me know.

Hi everyone, no problem with numbers as yet, looking forward to seeing you all, there may be 3-4 lanes that are a little difficult for standard vehicles but I am sure we can work our way round them, as we do!
Allways looking for group leaders so if anyone feels up for it let me know.

So far we have, Adrian, Dave C, Tone K, Kev, Pete, Sarah, Duncan, Trev, Mikey K and Rob.
Thats 10 vehicles, which makes 2 groups of 5, so unless another group leader comes forward (at the moment we have me in with Mikey K and Adrian as leaders) this event is now fully booked.

I have done the recce for this event, and I am not sure if this route is suitable for standard vehicles, I would recommend MUD Tyres at the least and a lift or big tyres would help, there was plenty of deep water on one lane and difficult rutts on another, water lane is now difficult to go down due to a very large step in it that needed waffle boards and there were a couple of places where we were rubbing the banks, It is my belief that standard vehicles would get stuck, damaged or swamped at least once on certain parts of the route, and anyone with side steps on thier vehicle is likely to loose them!
But then again if you dont mind being recovered and recieving a small amount of damage then I look forward to seeing you!

Members definately Booked so far are :-Adrian, Dave C, Tone K, Kev, Pete, Sarah, Duncan, Trev, Rob, David, Rich and Mark.

12 vehicles which is 3 groups with 4 in a group. event now full unless you are really good at grovelling!!

Some of the water areas are probably only suited to snorkel equiped vehicles. If you don't have one already, you have a couple of weeks to get one fitted Smile

I have decided to offer an alternative route for the more standard vehicles in our group, you will still do most of the same lanes but the most extreme lanes will be left out, also if anyone still decides to do the more difficult route but then finds theat there are 1 or 2 lanes they really dont want to do then I am producing a set of maps and directions to take members around the most difficult bits.
I will echo Adrians advice in that anyone wishing to do the more difficult route will definately need a snorkel for one of the lanes!

If I read it rightly, I will probably Team Psycho, I mean Team Potential Damage. I am also looking to get some waffle boards as for one lane, they are need unless you want to land on your tow bar like I did!

may as well put me down for the damaging lanes since I did most of them on the recce. to be honest, yes I had a snorkel and mud tyres and yes I needed waffle boards (this disco has a standard lift), but other than a few scuffs I came out of it unscathed.

Some really cracking lanes though Smile

As Dave said, the heavy route can be done with a relatively standard vehicle so long as it is prepared with a snorkel. The three vehicles got through all but one lane, which Jer is leaving out, without major issues other than cutting up fallen trees. Yes a waffle board was needed on Water Lane as I believe it is called but that's about it. Just be ready to fold your door mirror in quick. I think the worst damage we had was a roof rack was dented on the tallest vehicle which also had a roof rack.

Tone, I have a 2" lift. My wheels were submerged and I was up to my ankles in water inside the cab. If you are in my group you must have a snorkel and I advise water proof footwear unless you have good door seals.

thanks for a great day, some of the lanes were awesome specially water lane. Thanks again to adrian for leading, good job.

No major damage done, although my mate lent on my dads window and put it through ha ha. So has anyone got a near side front glass for his 90?
On the way home his rear wheel bearing collapsed and had to be recovered but apart from that he had a great day as well.

My brand new front axle bushes failed, hence why I was wandering around like a drunk........... Hopefully replacing them this weekend.

Glad you enjoyed it Smile
