Hello,
as the Fringe is coming up I thought I'd mention that I'm available for writing work if anybody needs anything expanded upon for their hour-long shows.

Basically, I charge £90 for a half-day or £170 for a whole day's writing. That usually roughly equates to 20/40 gags or 1000-1300/2000-2500 words.

I can't guarantee a 100% hit-rate of you liking stuff - no writer can do that. What I do to take that into account though is to take feedback on the material received and what does/doesn't work and then write an extra 5/10 jokes based on that feedback and included in the fee.

As far as my writing credits, you can find them here for TV/Radio: http://comedyteddy.com/about/

As Alan Anderson has previously mentioned, I also wrote material for his Chortle.Au ***** whisky show.

I can't mention anyone else I've written for as I only mention those who don't ask for confidentiality.

You can check my gags here if you want to make sure that I can write a joke:

http://comedyteddy.com/best-of-my-one-liners/

Feel free to PM, text, facebook or whatever, depending on which you have.

I need money to build a house in Slovakia.
(I actually just need money to pay the bills in Fife, but I'm trying to motivate myself with the more romantic notion.)

Seen Gary on Tuesday for the first time at The Basement gig under the Tennent's Bar. It wasn't an easy gig (a broken mic stand, 12 people in the audience who weren't the most receptive) but he done a really nice 10 minute set. He's only done 12 gigs but he's doing all the things you should do in that he's gigging a lot, not drinking, recording his sets and going over them and welcomes constructive criticism.

Just an open spot for now but I get a good feeling about this guy and he's had some success in the Gong shows as well.

Worth a punt for anyone booking

I performed at the launch night a couple of weeks ago and it was a pleasure. A very professional, friendly and encouraging set up in a fantastic room. If this comedy night can get the audience numbers in you're going to see the waiting list for spots get bigger and bigger so get your name down for it now.

Like Rich has already mentioned, you are expected to do your bit to advertise it, but I'm happy to give it support as its got the potential to be a great night on the comedy calender.
On Friday 21st June we have another Curry and Comedy night at Potter About on Burntisland's busy High Street, to coincide with the town's Civic Week.
Susie McCabe hosts the event, with Patrick Rolink, Gareth Waugh and Scott Jeffery also performing.
A few tickets were still available as of last Saturday (on sale in the venue). Doors are opened at 19:30, meals are served from 20:00.

As with all events, they take time to grow, but the response so far after only 2 weeks has been brilliant. We’ve been working hard here at Mansion House, taking all your suggestions on board about how to make this the best Amateur night on the circuit - and we’ve made lots of changes - now we just need everyone to get behind it.

We have both 5 min and 10 min open spots available supported by a pro compere and headline act every single week.
About Steve Roe

Steve Roe is the co-founder of Hoopla and has been teaching improv for over eight years. He teaches improvisation full-time five days a week in London and around the UK. He has experience of teaching beginners, experienced improvisers, stand up comics, drama school students and professional actors. Steve creates a friendly, fun and supportive atmosphere in workshops where people are free to play and be themselves.

In 2010 Steve founded London's first improvised comedy club at The Miller in London Bridge, creating a vibrant community of performers and a large repeat audience. He now books, produces and promotes improvised comedy shows every Tuesday and is currently planning a new West End venue.

In 2012 Hoopla's Improv Comedy Club was recommended as the best place to see improvised comedy in London by both The Daily Telegraph AND The Londonist.

If improvisation floats your boat you should head to The Miller by London Bridge every Tuesday (and Wednesday) for Hoopla. There's fewer better ways to see what spur-of-the-moment comedy London has to offer. - The Londonist, November 2012.

Steve has studied improv with Keith Johnstone, Patti Styles from Improv Melbourne, Shawn Kinley from Loose Moose Theatre, Kevin Tomlinson, Rob Broderick from Abandoman, The Penny Dreadfuls, Jay Rhoderick from The Upright Citizens Brigade, Fooling with Jonathan Kay and Clown with Mick Barnfather.

Steve currently performs with Music Box the Improvised Musical (5 Stars - Fringe Guru, 5 Stars - Remote Goat).
My brother has just got back from Turkey where he had been offered a 3 month holiday residency with Spotlight Comedy through a guy called Jonathan Greenwood. He was offered luxury accommodation, flights, regular gigs (6 a week) in a purpose built comedy club and £100 a show (which over the course of the summer would’ve been £20k or so.

He has just arrived home after 4 weeks with no money after doing a handful of shows to nobody. They are now advertising again for comics to go over but please don’t do it, the guy has no background in comedy and is a complete charlatan. It’s a difficult economic time for a lot of comedians and the idea of this might sound appealing but you will end up with nothing. Colin is now owed £4000 down and has no work for the rest of the summer. Just stay safe comedy chums.

Cheers
i am new to comedy i have three gigs under my belt obviously thats nothing to most of use.

But whats the best route to go down? its easy to say do the stand red raw night but your waiting three maybe six months to get on. Where else is good to get meterial tried and tested around scotland?
Going back to the video, and stepping away from the personal digs, the last few seconds of that video are the most poignant

He asks that you cant ban people having rape jokes in their sets so where is the line, where does it end?

Genevieve replies "When victims are not the butt of jokes".

Brilliant point. Personally, unless i had a great idea of how to turn it and make a point, i wouldnt attempt to use this topic. Comedy can be used to make a point, and if someone can do so to this end, then that's brilliant.

I read in an article that to oppose giving advice to women to not dress provocatively, etc, there was a counter side of advice stating 'if you do have intentions to sexualy assault someone, let them know', etc.

Just my tuppence!
