|I'm passing this along for my friend Lane! Get it!
Female-Fronted '60s & '90s Girl Pop-Influenced Band Seeking Guitarist And Bassist!!!
Our band is currently looking for a guitarist and bassist who are motivated, fairly intuitive, and versatile. To quote Aaliyah, hopefully you are that somebody.
90's girl pop bands and 60's pop in general, Go Sailor, The Knife, Tiger Trap, P.S. Eliot, Talulah Gosh, The Zombies, Julie Doiron, Cat Power, Broadcast, Neko Case, Phil Spector, The Shangri-Las, surf pop, twee pop, alternative country, distortion, etc. We're huge music geeks so this is pretty tip of the iceberg stuff.
WHO WE ARE:
We're in our early 20's and have been playing music for most of our lives. We have a female singer with a super powerful and extremely versatile voice (who also writes, plays ukulele, keyboard, synth, accordion, etc.) and a drummer who's also really versatile and talented. We also have a practice space in Brooklyn (off the F/G) that is really great and fairly cheap.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
-Queer, straight, male, female, doesn't matter.
-Someone who can bring a lot to the table in terms of writing their own music, but also writing complimentary, interesting parts to previously written songs, and helping our singer come up with guitar and/or bass parts if she has a general melody in mind.
-Someone who can rehearse 1-2 times a week (pref. 2 times a week), share the cost of the space, and play shows, make records, etc. We have a ton of songs we're already working on and re-working etc. but we're also writing new things together all the time.
We have some scratch tracks up that I can send you when you email. If you'd like to hear our singer's previous solo project, it can be found at: http://itwasromance.bandcamp.com/
WHAT TO EMAIL US
Please send samples if you have them (ideal) and a bit about yourself (what you're listening to right now, what you're sound is generally like, what you think you'd add to the band, etc.). Also, please include some times you could come by the space and play for/with us. We usually practice during the week around 6pm and on the weekends in the afternoon.
