There is always the battlefield. Like the youth combat area at dusk or something. I didn't think anyone had an issue with beer there but I guess they could decide it was wrong to ever allow booze in the battlefield area, or they could worry partying in a "public area" would create trash. Pennsic has always seemed on the beer-friendly side to me, but I don't test it a great deal. I could invite you up to my camp but then we'd really have nobody come. There's a reason we're called Finis Terra - lovely view of the neighbor's field but a trek to Pennsic Central.

LadyLia - One thought I had about the Tuesday evening social was that maybe people would be more interesting in hitting each other after they'd met on a friendly basis, and that maybe we could cobble together an impromptu short-notice meet and beat for Wednesday sometime while we were chatting.

That sounds good. I think that a problem in the past has been that no one knew who they were looking for at the pickup field and kinda moseyed away when they didn't see anyone else.

Then I notice Tuesday evening on the battlefield is the Known World Pennsic 40th anniversary celebration, which looks big. I expect the youth combat corner would be out of the way, but would we rather pick on Monday evening? Dunno. Either Monday at 8 or Tuesday at 8 in the youth combat area of the battlefield for meet and chat/eat/drink/etc.

The pickup field is *USUALLY* the one right in the corner of the field and is maybe 25 or 30 feet square. There are not usually more than a couple women out there. I look like this:

Re: the social - If it stays like last year, the east pavillion is on the other side of the battlefield from the youth combat area, so we should be okay, so I think the original date of Tuesday will work unless anyone pipes up in the next couple days.

Meet 'n Beat Peace Friday 8/5 at 2pm at the pick-up field.

Social - Battlefield - Youth Combat area - War Tuesday 8/9 at 8pm

Possible impromptu Meet 'n Beat Wednesday sometime if people arrange it at the Social Tuesday.

Yeah, Friday was crazy with women. However it seemed to be mostly coincidence, at least among those I approached. Good to fight you anyway.
