That's what I already wear.
I fought a tournament this past weekend. Actually, I handled the heat about as well as anyone - but NONE of us were handling it well at all. It was 95 degrees and sky-high humidity by the time it even started at 11am, with a heat index of 110. Honestly, by my last fight, I had lost all will to win, and it showed. Everyone pretty much agreed that I fought like I just didn't care. I just wanted to get someplace cool.

I have been thinking about the phase change cooling technology lately. I tend to overheat easily due to a health issue. I dont want to deal with a buky vest because it looks modern and I dont want to pay the money. But I have been thinking about just picking up some of the phase change cooling inserts and incorporating them into a specially made pourpoint since that is how I hold up my leg armour. You can get replacement inserts less expensively.
I also thought about trying out one of these phase change crown coolers, since I have room in the top of my helm for it:

Actually - the inside thigh is a pretty good place for that. Lots of high-volume blood flow through that area.

Hmmmnnn... Fighting ladies with frigid inner thighs. Seems like a joke just waiting to hatch, that.

Of course - not that many medieval Rus had to deal with temps near 100 degrees. |
Cabelas Knit Silk Undershirt
I have been using one of these for the last year or so as a base layer - I like it better than my UnderArmour shirts. And silk is appropriate for a Rus persona (being like on the Silk Road and all. ) |

Those cooling vests sound awesome and advanced!
I know the guys here use camel packs from walmart (they take out the bladder and put it in a period looking sack) filled with ice and strapped to their backs under their armor to stay hydrated and cooler during wars.
One of the ladies here also has fiber mi-alga? *abominable spelling* that keeps her from regulating her body temp, she combats it by having an iced footbath mid day.
Great suggestions so far, I hope mine helped a little, good luck and I hope you keep fighting through it, in a safe way of course! _________________ Isabel Nugent
