I kind of feel a bit embarrassed posting on the forum. I'm not an SCA-fighter. I fight ORCS and Darkon. I used to fight as a reenactor and I used to train as a martial artist, but I moved and time commitment became a very large issue.

I will say that I am, at best, a decent fighter. I fight single sword, sword and board, and dagger. (I am awful at sword and board, but I keep trying.)

Aside from fighting, I make garb and crochet. I design my own patterns, and I can copy other stuff that I see. I'm also a vocal performance major.

I'm really excited to have found a forum full of lady fighters! (And really good fighting advice from what I've seen linked so far.)

Where in Va. do you live? I'm in Maryland. I'm SCA rapier but used to fight Dagorhir (and may return).

I live within spitting distance of Virginia, and do most of my fighting and practicing in the VA DC suburbs. You'll probably find that a fair bit of the stuff is SCA specific, but there is other stuff that is pretty general.

I live in the Yorktown area. It's kind of in the middle of everything, but far enough away from everything to be inconvenient to go anywhere. (I think the closest SCA place is in Newport News?) If I had more time and money, I'd probably fight more places too.

I have a bunch of friends that fight Dagorhir. Most of the really good fighters in Darkon are cross-gamers from Dag or the SCA. I cannot tell you how much I want to go to Ragnarok!

(And because I have too...) If you live in MD fight Darkon! :p

As for the stuff being generally SCA, generally speaking, I've found that most stuff can cross over, you just have to think about it differently.
