That's Josef.
Quite a good bard type, with a really strong mind for humorous lyrics.

I wondered about the reality of this story myself when I first heard it. I am supprised that no one on this board has the answer. Sir Micheal the Lucky said he asked Sir Trudy and she said it was a gross exaggeration, but if anyone has anything to add, I would be interested in hearing it. True or concocted, I think its a great piece of SCA lore!

One I heard,...many, many years ago.
And I thought it was of Sir Trude,
A lady went jogging with chainmail under her sweat top, a guy tried to stab her, and withdrew a broken switchblade.
the guy Freaked out and ran away,...
(the lady was unharmed)
However,...
There was one here in San Antonio. I heard first hand, but I have since forgotten the lady's name. (It was over 20 years ago.)
The lady was home alone and a nut job broke in. After telling the idiot to leave, the nut job attacked her. The lady picked up an SCA made metal flanged mace. (ya know,...just something lying in the house.)
She hit him with a wrap to the thigh. The guy limped out and was caught later.
I remember, because she had just gotten the "wall decoration" back from the Police Dept and was showing off the rusty blood stains on the mace.
(with a grin from ear to ear)

ooo thats a fun one. I often look at all the decorative swords on my walls and wonder if they would be a help or a detriment in an emergency situation like that....

Oh I can tell you the swords on my walls would be a serious detriment to the life and limb of anyone who comes in my apartment uninvited. _________________ Martel le Hardi

Elizabeth, I think any decorative sword made of steel would go through bare flesh just fine. Even if it breaks, it will be useful the once. Besides, your average joe doesn't know the difference between a nice blade and a wall-hanger. They would be intimidated just by the fact that you had a sword.

a friend of mine a guy in this case had his house broken into . he grabbed the katana off the wall and took a moment to use it in sheath or out. He used it in sheath and still beat the crap out of the invader. Most things make good weapons. We do have two swords and an axe in our front room but I think I'd go for my grandfathers night stick. Easier to get off the wall. _________________ Give it just one more shot. And then one more. Think about the sweat and time you've committed already. You've come this far, you'd be unfair to yourself if you quit without a fight. |

I just worry that with so many hanging around, my assailant may grab one as well. But at least there I should have the advantage of knowing a little more then just what end to hold....
