Maybe a little early to start this thread, but I am sooo excited. We just booked the flights and all and will be at Pennsic for the whole 2 weeks. We will be quite a few from Drachenwald this year, actually!

This will be the first Pennsic I am fighting at and looking forward to that! Any good tips on what one should not for the world miss?

I have so much.

Don't drop by and visit the Tuchux camp. Just don't.

Spend some time on the pickup field.

Drop by Omega Camp for a beer, or a brandy.

If you fight nothing else, fight woods and open field. Open field is the big one at war. Woods is the only fighting in the shade.

Make sure that your visa stuff is all good.

My camp normally does a "Newbie walk" early in the first week. We walk around at night, so that new people can learn how to get to the food court, the first aid station, the ATM, the store, the coffee houses, all that jazz. There is drinking involved. You're welcome to come.

I'm hoping to make it this year. It'll be my second Pennsic. My first was Pennsic 27... At least I'll have full legs on this time. Smile

And perhaps get round to more parties. Only went to one last time.

Would love to meet up with people there too. Will only be going for fighting week if I make it though.

Time to think about the Girls Club meet and beat. I learned my lesson last year, and it will not be right after a res. battle. My geezing self ain't up for it. SO....looking at the field schedule, I am thinking Sunday August 2, 4:00pmish on the pick up field - directly after the My Mom Can Beat Up Your Mom tourney. (FYI: Any woman who has maternaloid feelings toward anything - guppies, nieces, tomato plants etc. can play in this, so don't consider yourselves ineligible. Also there is a My Dad Can Beat Up Your Dad tourney this year also, so no one is being left out, although there is that separate, but thing.)

But that aside: Does 4pm ish on the pickup field Sunday August 2 look good? Maybe get together for dinner in the food court after?

It looks as if Sunday at 4 PM is the time.

It should be noted that you don't have to come in armor. It is perfectly acceptable to come in your soft kit, or even in your street clothes, or even a clown suit.

The purpose is to put faces with handles. Fighting is not required.

I do, however, feel a tiny little surge of pride when I think of the fact that TheGirlsClub meets on the pick up field, while the ArmorArchive meets in a nice, comfy coffee house.

I have a little inside information about some the attendance of some folks, but I can't share it.

Last year, the Gathering was attended by Cunian and myself. Everybody else was unable to attend that day.

So, other than Cunian and I, who's coming?

Freiman, if you swing by the Drachenwald royal and remind us, I know that at least me, Duke Sven (who posts here sometimes) and Cecilia (who just stepped down) who attends this forum could perhaps come..

This year therea are.. five or so female fighters I think from Drachenwald coming (Yes, Morrigan is a Drachenwalder too Smile

) and a whole lot of the guys.

I will try to remember to do this.

I have not ever successfully made it to an appointment at Pennsic War. Never. Not even when I was single, young and attractive.

I can make it to meetings, but appointments have always eluded me.

I will certainly try, but if I fail to make it, please understand that a failure to make it would CERTAINLY not be an expression of some sort of bad feeling toward you, please.

I want to show up for this. I'll be at the Combat of the 30 at 6:00 for sure. Whether I will make thegirlsclub thing may depend on if I'm fighting in the 30 or not, which depends on if I get my new armour in time and if it fits, which depends on about a million things.

But I think I will at least make it to talk a little.
