I saw Kick Ass. I loved it. A big part of that was Hit Girl. Thank you Hollywood for making good after ruining all the female characters in GI Joe. But of course, I've been a fan of women, foul language, and recreational violence since I was about 5 years old.

Your take on the Hit Girl controversy anyone?

I hear she dropped the C bomb! Laughing

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm sure I'll probably still have the same take on it after I do. People don't bat an eye when men commit violence or perform acts of torture. I mean we're living in a country where they've made a ridiculous number of Saw movies and tons of knock offs all trying to out do each other and they've become totally banal. But a young girl cursing and doing violence and people are all freaked out. She's not conforming to standard cultural archetypes and some people can't handle it. I'm actually kind of disappointed by Mark Millar kind of shoving her off to the side. He's always been about pushing the limit with his work and now he wusses out about it and bows to cultural pressure?

She drops a C-bomb in the preview.

Don't be so hard on Millar. He is a businessman, not a social crusader. As such, he follows social trends rather than attempting to advance them.

I saw the movie this weekend and thought it was awesome! I am in the comic book reading, kung fu watching demographic though. Its a fun romp if you like some comic book / kung fu violence and a snarky sense of humor.
I really appreciated that hit girl was a little girl and not vamped up.

Make no mistake - it is not a kids' movie - and I think that is where some of the confusion comes in. Not all superhero movies are for kids.

I think that the movie is interesting because it is a comic book spin off movie, but the comic was deliberately written to spin into a movie.

So, at that point, it becomes a chicken and egg kind of deal.
