I just rigged up a spear practice "dummy" that was suggested to me by the leader of our group here. I took a hollow, plastic ball that is soft-ball sized and tied it to a small rope that I had strung over a rafter in our garage. It's about the height of a man's head. I practiced with it for 20 minutes, alternating hands when I got tired, and I really enjoyed it! I am definitely better with my dominant right hand.
Are there any other techniques that you have found helpful? |

If you can hang a piece of plywood similar to a shield in some way, like on a fence or something sturdy, you can practice popping the corners which is also just good general target practice.
Also, practicing with your offhand is awesome. There will be times where you might be positioned and using your non dominant hand is more advantageous. Or just using your offhand if your main hand gets tired.
If you haven't watched any spear videos, there are some great Duke U videos from Sport of Kings.
