Good evening!
I'm very happy to have found this forum - I'm in a bit of an odd situation. I'm a marshal for both heavy & rapier and a beginner rapier fighter. With the new directive that all marshals must also be authorized fighters, I'm starting as a heavy fighter also (and have found that I absolutely love it.)
A buddy & I are starting to get our own armor together, and we're really happy to find somewhere with just the knowledge we need as we work on kits. You all have already answered so many questions! Quite frankly, I despise the armor I'm borrowing, but it's taught me a lot about what I _don't_ like.
So much fun!
Ellisif (who does, indeed, bruise embarrassingly easily and looks polka-dotted after rapier practices. Should look really good after the first real heavy practice)

Welcome. I'm a somewhat-new (3.5 years) rapier fighter in Atlantia. You're ambitious to be learning two disciplines at once. |

learning two disciplines at once ... either ambitious or stupid. It turns out not to be too bad. They're different enough that I'm at least not having problems trying to swing a rapier (g).
I was starting rapier anyway, then the marshal authorization ruling was announced. We are desperately short of both kinds of marshals, and when you're asked to please work on authorizing for heavy by the principality marshal, the Prince, your Pelican, the lone local marshal, your husband and his knight, you start training.
By the way, please wish me luck. My auth. fight is Sunday. Against the aforementioned knight. HE thinks it's great, since I told him that since he got me into this, he's going to have to die.
Baby seal time for me...

Well, pooh. No authorization today. Our other marshal, who was also supposed to authorize, didn't feel like it. Her head was in the wrong place, whatever that means. So we try again in a couple weeks.
On the other hand, I did get to face our one local knight, and he said another couple weeks practice & I should have no trouble authorizing. Way cool. He was even happy that I managed to catch him in the head once, and said nice things about my ever-patient teacher (my husband his squire, believe it or not. We seem to be one of the rare couples for whom this actually works)
So glad I didn't totally disgrace myself!
