When our father Vibert died without a male heir, my older sister Milesent took charge of our small family. We've prospered somewhat, but alas, in 1483 my dear sister decided to secure wealth for us by marrying an Englishman - a Yorkist. Great. Everyone already thinks Burgundy is in bed with England! I'd rather we had no English about, myself, it was hard enough getting them out of the country! -but won't say so around my brother-in-law. He does have that winery and all those sheep.

Really, I chose my period based on the costume. (Love me some those pointy hats!) and the armor. (Let's face it. Armor is sexiest in 1470. Anything after that is just fru-fru and before that it's not nearly pretty enough.)

Milesent had to move herself a little ahead in time to marry during the reign of Richard the Third. Nothing less would satisfy Yorkist hubby. But at least we're close enough, you know, to dress similarly.

Personally, I'm in the 1470's, man, or the '60s, and have no idea who this "Good King Richard" my brother-in-law keeps talking about is.

The hard part of being in England, really, is the food. *sigh* Wink

Seriously; anyone interested in Burgundain costume should totally check out Lyonnete's research.

Which... the site is not letting me post links to. *mutter* I'm a human! honest! Look for Barony of the Cleftlands arts and sciences section or just google Lyonnete Vibert. Smile
