I don't man, I love it more when Mr. Skull does it during the 13th Anniversary show.

| Molly sounds great when she actually sings, but sounds strident and shrill on most of the live stuff.

Yes I did. It's a studio collage. |
Okay Mr. Argumentative, it's a studio collage in that they edited it in a studio, but if you don't think there is any of the Boarding House stuff in there, then I don't know what to say. |
I remember trying to decide whether the 4 disc version of huddled masses was worth getting and Hallowed was the key issue for me. It was a large chunk of Baby Sex but the titles seemed to coincide with The Boarding House which I already had on the UWEB CD. I called RA and Molly told me that they were indeed the same recording. A few years later, I bought Roosevelt 2.0 because $20 was a much more acceptable risk than $70 and lo and behold YHallowed Be Thy Ween turned out to be completely different than the straight Boarding House recording. The live recording is mixed into the collage but there is so much more going on that its rendered barely audible. Hallowed is an obvious immitation of Zappa's Chrome Plated Megaphone of Destiny. But, like 60's Brits trying to play the blues, what the Residents get wrong makes it a whole new thing and pretty great.

yeah, we're only convincing when we go into a rousing rendition of 'Land of Hope and Glory'

I hope you don't think I'm knocking Brittish music. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, The Groundhogs, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Manfred Mann....some of the greatest music ever is the result of failing at the blues.

| "Land of hope and glory" isn't all that convincing anymore, either.

Not as much as God save the Queen though (not the Pistol's song obviously!). Why can't we have a national anthem that's about the actual country??

i quite agree... our anthem is tantamount to slavery... to a dysfunctional gaggle of buffoons...
it's an outrage, i tell you...

| In 2005 I saw a flier for sale on e-bay. The description said "few people know that the residents Halloween show in 7(1?) was a wedding. Even fewer know it was Snakefinger's wedding", and some other stuff about being in a barn. It was an original poster, and I will always remember the address(i think)-5003 N. highway 101 arcata.(I drive by all the time). In this spot now is a hydroponic store and modular home dealer, on the muddy shores of the arcata marsh. I always wonder which barn it is, or if its tore down. All this talk of the boarding house around the same time, and hallowed be thy wean seems like a title that would be associated somehow, but i have no clue. I think that flier sold for around $800.

| I guess that's "The Party" excerpted on Liver Music. It'd be interesting to hear more in a digital download ala the Oh Mummy release.
