Same here.

Is it just me, or is Animal Lover a pretty terrifying album in general?

Parts of it are utterly horrifying (Olive and Grey, The Monkey Man, Dead Men on good headphones, Burn My Bones).

Betty's Body yes, but particularly the version from The Way We Were.

"It's all about teeth...

I don't get how Making of a Soul could possibly considered scary. I'd consider it whimsically psychedelic more then anything. Same with The Shoe Salesman, which I'd consider fairly goofy and upbeat in mood.

at the YBCA retrospective they played a video of a song i never heard, the only lyrics were "TOUCH ME", and all the visuals were of gay porn- not totally graphic, but emphasizing on the looks on their faces while in the acts. every other video was met with applause, but when this one ended, not even a cricket chirped- ever -. It was very disturbing. I felt violated just from watching it and apparently so did everyone else.

ha ha! this was the visual treatment for a song called 'Teddy', which was part of the Prelude For The Teds Release. it is available on the Golden Goat dvd single.
"Touch me!" Laughing

That's the one! thank you, I'd been looking for it. It doesn't seem that bad now; it's different in a theater with people and you're not really expecting it. Maybe everyone got quiet cause really they were turned on.

that's just the sort of effect we would hope our favourite eyeballed ones would have on an audience... their perceptions were shattered, and for a few minutes they saw an alternative view.
i would love to have been there...!

Kind of unrelated, but the video to Constantinople scares the bejesus out of me. I made the mistake of watching the Icky Flix DVD at midnight and it gave me a nightmare. The song alone is only a little disturbing and mostly laughable, but the video! It's not even the creepiest thing by them but it disturbs me so much, probably because it's so different from the visions I get when I listen to the song.

You might laugh, but "Stuck on You" from The King and Eye. When we first moved into our house (which seemed so huge, especially at first, compared to our cramped grad school apartment - and so dark at night), sometimes I would get up in the middle of the night to get a drink or water or some such. I didn't think of serial killers; I didn't think of monsters.

What I did think of was:

"Hide in the kitchen! Hide in the hall! Ain't gonna do you no good at all! Cause once I catch you and the--"

--lower, scarier voice--

"Kissin' starts..."

...That, combined with the puppets in the Cube-E Elvis performance, haunts my dreams.

(Edited: I wrote King and Eye performance before I realized it was from Cube-E.)

For me I'd say...

Baby Sex (for obvious reasons)
Sinister Exaggerator- I love this song, but I still find it eerie
Bach is Dead- I don't know why this one creeps me out.

That's really all I can think of at the moment.

Lizard Lady used to make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Imagine! A SONG that has that much power to evoke such a response! Combine that with The Coming Of The Crow (both were on the Hell! compilation which was my first full intro) and my vision of WHAT IN THE HELL MADE THIS MUSIC was formed. Sweet!

You weren't creeped out because it was gay, were you? Because that would be f**k up.

that question sounds like a loaded trap- all my best friends and my wife have questioned my sexuality, I've questioned myself before. This video was powerfully creepy to see the first time unexpectedly in a theater, but then again I'm an ignorant hick. I don't know why no one else clapped for that video. It WAS in San Fransisco, and I am nearly positive there were some gay men present in the audience, who also didn't clap, so either they also felt it was creepy, or were too turned on to clap at the moment- no... I'm not a fag basher-but I DO hate people in general.-- we suck!

I'm a gay girl, and I think it would be odd or even creepy if there were pictures of the faces of anyone engaging in sex acts, even if they were the hottest women ever. Sex faces are nice enough when you're the one making them, but definitely weird removed from the context. That's all I thought you meant, for what it's worth. Smile
