I'm so sorry that so many girls have went through all of these effects from taking Yaz, but I must say it's a relief to know that I am not crazy! I was on Yaz for maybe 2 years before my gyno took all of her patients off of it due to all the complications. Mainly I'd say she just didn't want to end up in the middle of a lawsuit. I stopped taking the pill the end of May 2012.
I had some issues while on Yaz, but I had never associated them with Yaz until recently....
-redness/tingling/numbness in my feet & toes-- which still continues after quitting the pill
-vaginal dryness
-low libido
-irregular periods- I might not have one for 6 months, or maybe I would have 2 light ones in 1 month.
After I quit taking Yaz, the torture began... |

-Shortness of breath which is still ongoing. It's worse today, but has been slowly getting better. When it first started, it was constant.
-Chest pain/pressire
-strange sensation in ears/back of neck/arms- the best way I can describe it is like iceyhot was running through my veins
-insomnia for the first couple of weeks along w/ strange dreams
-TMJ
-severe anxiety to the point where I was very uncomfortable being out in public & couldn't even watch TV becuase the drama on TV made me nervous!! Crazyness! I finally had to go on a anti-anxiety medication, which I had been on before, years ago.
-stomach issues
-no period... This may be TMI, but my body finally just attempted to have one. I have read that many people's symptoms got worse around the time of their period. This was def the case for me. My period was abnormal, but at least my body is making an attempt to get regulated.
-Yeast infection
-my blue veins in my legs are now SUPER noticeable and stand out a lot! I am getting what looks to be the start of vericose veins. I also have little spider veins in my legs. I still have redness and a weird pain in my feet and toes.
Has anyone else experienced the shortness of breath as the main symptom and the issues with the veins? |

i had shortness of breath, too. which i still do have. i quitted Yaz, around the same time, beginning of May 2012. also stomach issues, to a point i get a feeling that the fullness i feel inside makes it harder for me breathe. not sure. i can feel the walls of my stomach. also gained a couple of pounds (it might be a combination of my not getting my period+quitting Yaz+ quitting smoking.)
i went to see a gynecologist, and we figured out that the walls of my uterus thinned extremely, about 80% of the normal. and that prevents my periods. though she offered to put me on a one-time pack of medication, to get it fixed, i decided to wait. but i guess i'll go back to her next month if i still dont get my period and start the medication.
also have experienced severe anxiety (still do. not as bad, but still) |
