I'm currently taking Loestrin 24, but was on Yasmin, then Ocella for a total of about 7 years, until two months ago. I'm one week into my second week of my packet, and I want to quit altogether. Should I wait until I finish the packet, or is it okay to just stop in the middle of one? My side effects on this one are not nearly as bad as those I experienced on Yasmin/Ocella, but there are a few wierd things that bother me. I've had some pretty serious weight gain that started before I started loestrin, but I've noticed several other things that bother me, such as NO PERIOD AT ALL, severe mood swings, and just an over-all bitchy feeling almost all the time. My kids think I'm a monster. I'd love to be able to just stop these pills immediately, but I worry what the effects might be, and I'm not sure I'm prepared for the whole natural birth control thing yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

There is no harm in stopping the pill tonight. Obviously, make sure you have protected sex and keep in mind that you may experience some withdrawal effects including a withdrawal bleed.

Don't look back. You are making the right decision in coming off the pill! Smile

Dear Alh36,

Rines is right, don't look back - if you want to wait until your pack is almost done you can. I stopped when I had 3 left... I was going to finish it but was unable to continue taking them when I knew what they did to me...

My period came 3 days earlier than expected after that... but I have been pretty regular since.

There is a great thread about Natural birth control if you are unsure. I was exactly like you - worried about it all... but it has been working great since I stopped and I wish I would have done it sooner.

I wish you the best, keep us updated!
Hugs,
~Helena
