I know that sounds a little dramatic, but I was taking Ocella for 3 years and my life changed so much it is completely different and unrecognizable from the life I had before. Side effects over 3 years: 40 pounds weight gain, anxiety, feet swelling, bone spurs, depression, anger, temper, migraines, eye pain, appetite like a horse, terrible sweet tooth, insomnia, fatigue, irratibility, itching feet, muscle knots, incontinence, cervical prolapse, socializing fears and reclusiveness, hand swelling, inability to have a normal cycle because migraines were too bad so had to stay on for entire year, hormone imbalance, wrongly diagnosed with ptsd because of all symptoms, constant discharge, no sex drive, shame. I have been off Ocella since January 2012. I am FINALLY seeing the pill leave my body. The doctor was not at all interested in any of my issues and told me to stop eating bread so I would stop gaining weight. In reality I was training regularly for 5k's trying to run to lose weight. Even running didn't help, only probably stopped me from getting more serious effects of Ocella. I have lost 25 pounds, have stopped taking anti-depressants, am not incontinent anymore, and am beginning to relearn to socialize. I was engaged, and am now single, due to my inability to control my temper while on Ocella. I HATE THAT PILL |

Hi joynoel,
I am happy you have gotten off the pill. It has done horrible things to so so many women and relationships out there... I hope you will be able to heal your body fully and find a soul mate that will stand by you through good and bad.
I went through pretty much everything you said. I specially think of the fear of socializing... Which was something that just came upon me and I was ALWAYS this "talk to everyone" type of person before it.. it took me a while to find her again, and not really sure I did fully but that could be due to other situations in life I suppose. ;p
Losing weight is tricky. When your body is in distress or not well it will not allow you to lose weight, but will hold on to everything you have and give your body. I went through the same when I came off. I gained 20 lbs in just a week after quitting and then added on about 20 more throughout my detox period. It took me actually up until last spring for my body to be healthy enough to lose the weight. It for sure has been a process!!
My suggestion to you is to focus more on what you eat than how much you exercise since weight loss comes from about 80% of what you eat and 20% of what you do. The right food will also help you heal faster. Here is a post I wrote a little while ago to help people with what to eat: http://yasminandyaz.blogspot.com/2012/09/getting-back-on-track-efter-quitting.html
When your body is ready it will start to lose that extra weight.
